I used to be sure to piss all around where I stood. Deer smell urine smells all the time. It makes them feel at ease.

i met an old guy at the hospital today and he told me when he was younger and hunted a lot, he was an acute smoker and the tobacco smell help him masked he scent. i think its logic as i have read somewhere that the Indians used camp smoke on the clothing and body before a hunt.

My first deer was a ten-pointer that walked up a rise and stood on the opposite side of a tree where I was standing. I was smoking a cigar. I let the cigar drop to the ground and shot him at 10 feet. Maybe the cigar worked for me. I never did figure it out conclusively.

If you have the luxury of spending enough time in your hunting area to make your scent familiar or even better, associated with good things, all the more power to you. Few of us have that. Glad it works for you.
^^^ This, and I leave my hunting clothes outside at night.

I've been hunting over 40 years and have been pretty successful.
Out of close to 50 deer harvested, I may have been whiffed out by deer a few times ( that I know of).
Scent masking for me is a non issue.
Think ill go out this afternoon. Ill.probly get busted after posting this.

I do not make much worry over my hunting gear, other than I don't wash it with normal clothes and I spray myself down with the no scent stuff.

I have spooked more deer in my stand by movement than scent IMO.

I hunt naked, and smear blood and feces all over my skin. Been working for me.

I do at least once every ten years or so... There's more than one reason to leave it outside.
