maybe the guy i saw today with the 4 cop cars pulled behind him was one of those who refused to "turn 'em in"

i might send a few stupidly large boxes full of packing peanuts, with a handful of rubber bands in them to the ATF as certified mail.
There is no way to make it out alive...

I'd say that they think that they're playing 3D chess. What they're really doing is abusing themselves.

The rest of us are watching this crap imagining that it really matters.

Damn few are doing to turn them in. Most simply won't take them to ranges any more.

Most people don't care about bump stocks. They'll care when the "bump stock precedent" "justifies" a ban on semi-automatic firearms.

Lost Congressional seats mid-term is typical for a sitting president. The fact is that Trump lost less than they historically do.

Trump is the President, not a King. He can't just ban the possession of objects by decree alone.

also, the ATF hasn't actually published any updated policy, so this is all hypothetical for now.

You are thinking in terms of how things 'should' work. Watch damp nut do whatever he wants.

As for complying.... I would like to see the rate of compliance after the ban goes into effect.

I don't quite understand the thinking that people must be compensated for items that are "banned" at a point after legally purchasing them.

I've read the legal mumbo jumbo regarding that type of thing, and I don't recall it "jiving" with what I see people saying here.
It's been a few months since I looked it up, so I don't recall the specifics, but it seems to me that no compensation is required in a case like this.

Depends upon how much compliance you want from the public.

A "buy back" allows you to compile a list of future confiscation targets. Gun control enthusiasts like to put people into data bases.

Whew, good thing I sold my bump stocks at a yard sale before I had to turn them in for free, well, except those that I lost in that unfortunate boating accident.

I'm gonna start selling bags of shredded ABS plastic. You buy the bag, send it to the ATF saying you destroyed your bump stock so that it couldn't possibly fall into evil hands.
Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.
