While I’m not a huge YM fan he is right with this. Republicans are stalling this and a vote would show us who our friends truly are.

The republican politicians today are fiscal conservatives. They don’t give 2 shits about gun rights. They’ll campaign it for votes, but never act upon it. In areas where they’re likely to face a good challenge from the democrat candidate, they’ll call for stricter background checks and common sense measures.

We couldn't get 60 votes for Kavanaugh sure as hell ain't getting them to carry in the communist states
The Majority leader (McConnel) decides which bills come to the floor for a vote. Thus far, Mr. McConnel has not seen fit to bring it to the floor for a vote. I don't think 60 votes are needed in this case, a majority of yes votes would suffice. Unlike the Democrats who fight for the things they want (even in the minority), the Republicans are spineless. National reciprocity should already be the law of the land, as well as a full repeal of Obamacare. There should also be full funding for a wall on the southern border - all of these things if voted on and passed would be signed into law by President Trump. Face it, we really do not have representation for the views most of us here espouse in Washington.

Cornyn’s bill faces uncertain odds considering the measure would need 60 votes to pass and there are only 52 Republican Senators. (This article is dated 12/11/17)In addition, the gun control lobby’s screeching tirade against it has been boosted by ex-New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s commitment to finance a $25 million hysteria campaign and Gabby Giffords, formerly of Americans for Responsible Solutions and now with Giffords — as in, Giffords — said her group (Giffords) with spend “six figures” buying ads against eight Republicans in the House who voted for the measure.

I actually argued with him (well he responded once to tell me I was full of shit) about it needing 60 votes. If someone can explain why this can be passed with only 51, I am all ears or eyes in this case

In all fairness he considers himself a Classic(al) Liberal and by that definition and ideology I would have to say so do I. No offense taken, I know many people don't know the difference or at least differentiate between a progressive liberal and a classical one which is why the term Libertarian was born (at least in the US).

Thanks for reinforcing what I believed I knew about Senate procedures!
