Suggestions for AR-15
I am interested in purchasing an AR-15 in the near future. not sure where to begin looking. I have done some research online but still not 100% on which brand to buy or if i should buy a kit and build it myself. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I am also thinking about the LAR-8 i saw on the river rock arms web site. let me know what you all think.
thanks in advance.

Re: Suggestions for AR-15
This question comes up frequently. If you stick with the name brands you should be okay. They are all good and it comes down to personal preference. An ar-15 is an ar-15 it is just about the quality of the maker and the parts they use. When I say name brands I am referring to:
Colt
Bushmaster
Stag
RRA
Good luck.

Re: Suggestions for AR-15
I'm no expert, and you'll get varying degrees of "who's the best" AR manufacturer, but in my opinion, you can't go wrong with a kit.
I built mine(my first)last year, using a RRA CAR A4 Kit.
A total build is a little more complex, as the upper needs to be assembled, but kits come mostly pre-assembled.
All you need to do is install the trigger group in a stripped lower(or buy a pre-assembled lower), and attach the grip and buttstock. The rest of the "assembly"(upper onto lower)is nothing more than putting it in place and pushing in the take-down pins.
Here are some links on "builds" that you may find interesting:

I think I spent $670 on mine.(below)
RRA Kit $570 on sale, and an Anvil Arms laser engraved lower, for $100.

It's a basic M-forgery, but I needed to keep the cost as low as possible, and truthfully, I am happy with it "as is".
Whatever way you go, I don't think you'll be sorry. I am really happy with mine, and regret not having looked into these rifles a long time ago.
Good luck!I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Rock Rivers are nice and a good rifle but, they are a little pricy and sometimes hard to get. Stag, Bushmaster, Colt are also very good rifles and a little better price.

Re: Suggestions for AR-15
For complete rifles? Perhaps. I couldn't afford to get one that way.
As far as kits go, with the Christmas sale pricing(10% Off)of the RRA kit that I purchased, and factoring in that the basic RRA kit comes with a 2 stage trigger, and 1 magazine, it only ran me $40 more that a Del-Ton kit if I were to add those "options" to the Del-Ton basic M4 kit.
I had everything broken down to the penny on a sheet of paper, when comparison shopping.
If you do your homework, and/or run across a bargain, you can do this for a lot less than you'd think.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: Suggestions for AR-15
I am also in the market for an AR-15 right now. The ones I am looking at right now are Del-Ton(http://www.del-ton.com/), DPMS, or Rock River Arms. I am leaning towards Del-Ton, great price and good quality!!

Re: Suggestions for AR-15
I'm happy with my Del-Ton kit. Good price for what I got (float tube, Flip-up gas block, ext...)
After giving it careful thought I'm going to do a second build with my PAFOA lower and put my existing upper on that, register my "Evil" lower and start saving for my SBR 9mm upper.
My advice: Sit down and figure exactly what you want, and build it how you want it. I should have done a 9mm from the beginning, and saved up a little longer to get what I actually wanted. Don't be like me
