Shillington church explores roots of gun violence
And the sheep nodded..................................

================================================== ================================================== ====================================
About 50 people, mostly church members, gathered in the sanctuary at the church on Waverly Street to hear from Dr. Cassandra Kercher Crifasi, a wife, mother, proud gun owner and assistant professor of health policy and management at Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Policy and Research at the university's Bloomberg School of Public Health.
That center, founded in 1995 and funded through grants, tuition and the Joyce Foundation of Chicago, dedicates itself to reducing gun-related injuries and deaths through the application of strong research methods and public health principles.

I'm sure that 98% of gang bangers think that background checks would help reduce violence...

Re: Shillington church explores roots of gun violence
I find certain 'facts' presented as questionable.
First, the results of their questionnaire shows that even gun owners support very stringent gun control laws at the lowest rate of 60%! Really? Who were they asking and how did they skew the results so much?
They also expound the direct correlation between gun permit approvals going upwards with an increase in violent crime rates. But they wrote it in a way to allude to a cause and effect relationship that does not necessarily exist (e.g. as gun permits increased, gun violence increased). Perhaps the cause and effect is the other way around: As violent crimes increased, permit requests and approvals increased!
Earlier in the presentation they discuss why they are studying gun violence and how to resolve the issue. The following statement proves conclusively that they have an agenda for gun control and will ignore rights and freedoms of individuals.
"Focus on prevention rather than punishment"
The above philosophy, usually reached by wanting to treat crime as a medical affliction rather than a crime against a person or group's rights, is the antithesis to the principles set forth by the Founding Fathers on how best to design and implement a government that will protect the rights and liberties of individuals.
Thusly, I crumple their report and throw it into the waste bin.Last edited by TaePo; November 19th, 2018 at 12:18 PM.

Pretty chicken-shit that the only way one can comment in opposition to the article is to pay to subscribe to the "newspaper".

Interesting that an institution that enjoys their first amendment rights and is free from taxes wants to enact laws to take away my rights. This sounds an awful lot like pulpit politics. Maye it's time their tax free status is revoked.

When a terrorist mows down people with a truck, why is that never called truck violence?
