Default My new toy! It only took me 12 years to get one!

Yep. Back in 1996, gun dealer I used to go to in NY had one for oh.. like $350.
That was alot of money for me then(Highschool senior with $4.25/hr job). I bought Norinco SKS for $80 instead.

I've wanted one ever since. never had chance to get one(either I had no money or I had money, but noone had it).

Thanks to ithinkimamedic, I finaly got one!

United States Rifle, Caliber .30, M1

Serial number puts its made sometime between 1955 to 1957.. Clearly, its been used, but not in two major wars. But Who cares! Its all mine!

Can't wait to go shoot this thing tomorrow!!!

Patience is a virtue. She's a beauty, but now you've got a lot of time to make up for. If you check around on-line, you should be able to find good M2 ball ammo ready to shoot stacked en bloc clips, put in bandoliers and packed in cans for about the same price as loose ammo.

I made my mind up on getting one back in '96, when a department store in VA called "Roses" (made Walmart look like Neiman Marcus) sold milsurp guns. They had Mosin-Nagants for $40, Mausers for $60 and M1 Garands for $240. Every now and then they'd have a 40% sale on all milsurps, but I never got there in time to get one. I finally got mine at the VFGS in '06. I only waited 10 years, so I guess by your standards I'm an impulse buyer.

Very nice, man. Would love to get one. It's on the list right after the SKS and the AK.

So many guns, so few zombies *sigh*

Yeah it would have been nice if I could get a collector grade, but I shoot all my guns, so I figured if I get collector grade, and scratch it or something, I'd be.. well, I'd cry. So for what I use it for, its perfect.

I do want to get a new wood, and possibly reparkarize it some day tho.

I know, its prolly not worth spending money on, but its mine, so whatever I say its worth, its worth it, right?

So I shot it today, and i have to say sight is off. Ithinkimamedic did say he had to replace the rear sight(or part of it), because it was busted. But I was too excited, I never othered to actually sight the thing in today. it was shooting little about 3inch left, 4inch low at 100yds. But the group was okay

I'll spend sometime with bench and snadbag next time..
