Apparently when a firearm is pulled in self defense someone has to take a bullet or your just not doing it right.

Maybe we can all settle on a warning shot, or maybe even a bank shot off the pavement with a fragment ricochet into the perps shin.

Yeah, I know. The whole thing is really silly, I mean what like 90% of the people spouting off about this or that on this board have not gone through any serious weapons training a la LEO style and we go on and on. (And I count myself part of that group). But I did personally have an instance once when I thought a miscreant was coming up to my house in a rural area in Vermont late one night and I did remain calm as I grabbed my 9mm and went out the back door to confront the person. I took cover with my weapon handy as the unknown vehicle came up the drive and things turned out just fine. It was an individual who took the wrong road and was looking for a place to turn around. He never even knew I was armed and I thought I handled the whole thing pretty well.

No one should need professional training with firearms to know deescalation without loss of life is always a big fucking win.

A police officer mistakenly shot and killed a security guard at a bar in Chicago's south suburbs early Sunday morning

Witnesses said a security guard told a group of "drunk men" to leave a Robbins bar around 4 a.m. An armed suspect later came back inside the bar and opened fire, WGN-TV reported, citing witnesses.

Armed security guards returned fire, the report said. One the guards -- Jemel Roberson, 26 -- apprehended the suspect outside, witnesses said. Roberson then requested help from Midlothian Police, the Cook County Sheriff's Office said.

A witness told the station that Roberson was holding the suspect on the ground when one of two responding officers fatally shot him.

I kept thinking as I followed this thread that the good Samaritan was lucky twice that day He also didn't get shot by responding P.D.
