Default Saw this at the range yesterday

I was at French Creek Outfitter's indoor range yesterday when this guy walked in with what I first thought was a rocket launcher, till I got a better look at it.

I can't remember what model this is, but the guy told me that it's a WWI German machine gun. He was trying to get the full auto working because they were going to use it in a movie that they were filming. He was nice enough to let me snap a picture of it.

Yep, it's a German Maxim. The barrel shroud was used on several machine guns of the period.

that's a model 08/15 maxim. some parts kits were imported from central america about 8 years ago, and a few have been rebuilt as semis. this gun could be a semi, a post sample on a recent build, or a much earlier importation in reweld or orignial C&R.

    The receiver looks original.

Theres quite a few of these in the registry, It's just that they aren't that popular. I saw one for $11K last year that came with a load of accesories/ammo

That's a hoss of a gun. Imagine slinging that thing around for a tour of duty...

I would have let you shoot it. Then again, if it wasn't quite working, probably not.

under 2000fps? Just wondering if that is how they allowed it on the range.
