Sometimes it just takes practice to get good with speed loaders. I competed with a GP100 in IPSC back in the 80's and 90's. It started life with the standard Ruger rubber grip with wood inserts, but that grip was replaced with the rubber Hogue finger groove grip. I had no problems loading the gun quickly with HKS and Safariland speed loaders once I got the hang of it. Not a fan of finger grooves, which is why my current GP100 in 10MM wears this Hogue grip.
BTW, best speed loaders on the planet are SL Variant. Boy oh boy... They're impossible to find, and that's a shame, because there's nothing like them on the market.
