Default Wanted: Dead or alive Mare's leg rifle

Started watching Steve McQueen in Wanted: Dead or Alive and got to thinking that a Mare's leg may be a gun I want to add to my collection. Henry Repeating Arms makes a version with a 16 inch barrel but that is nothing like the gun from the show. Would like to get a gun exactly like Steve McQueen had but of course this would require a tax stamp. Not averse to going that route, merely wondering is anyone here has heard of anyone doing something similar as I cannot be the first person to want to replicate this rig.

Looks like a standard mare's leg to me. Get one in 45 Colt or 44 Mag. I wouldn't go the 44-40 route.

Rossi makes them also. Rossi Ranch hand. Classified as a Pistol. 12" barrel

I have two Rossi's in 45lc. The one came with a pretty cool holster.

I lusted over one for a while (Henry), but the price eventually cooled me off.

I got the Rossi's used but looks to be unfured for under two hundred each. And the came with a nice holster and the other had the loop and stock wrapped in leather.

Yeah the Rossi's are quite a bit less. To a point that it's tempting. Rossi/Taurus products tend to turn me off though. Still stinging from a poor purchase in my youth(not related to either brand), so I tend to stay away from the cheaper brands of anything.

Google search. Somebody was making them. Twice the price of henry. I became a mares leg collector by accident. I don't like the fiddly tiny safety on the Rossi bolt. It can be replaced like the Hillary hole. The trigger is a bit of a hair. The Henry is just plain beautiful.
