    Default snake needs identifying

    I'm terrible at identifying snakes. Came across this one on the Saucon Rail Trail Hellertown, coming out of the marsh area.

    He's young. Maybe 28-30 inches.

    Thoughts on what he is?

    Sandcut probably knows. I don't think copperheads have stripes but it's a possibility, have a picture of its head?

    Copperheads do have wide bands and their colors are not as dark.It could be some kind of water snake.

    I dunno about that one, the black snakes that I've seen were glossy black like coal. That thing looks brown with stripes on it.
