Mossberg 500 Tactical vs 590
Are there any pros or cons when it comes to the Mossberg 500 Tactical vs 590 (non-A1 version)? I saw both of these shotguns at similar prices. The only difference is the 500 Tactical has ghost ring sights and holds 7+1 and the 590 has a bead sight and holds 6+1.

Re: Mossberg 500 Tactical vs 590
The 500 generally has a magazine that has a nut welded into the end of it for securing the barrel. The 590 does not, so magazine extensions are possible on it and not so with the 500.
Other than that they should be about the same. I’ve got a rifle sight 20” tactical 500, a ghost ring 18.5” 590, a 28” ported vent rib barreled 500, and also an 18.5” not a shockwave but uses the same grip. For defensive purposes the ghost rings should be faster than rifle sights but I’m not sure it matters that much. I haven’t run drills with a timer against each other.
I don’t like using just a bead with slugs, if that matters to you.
