UGI caused a building detonation in Millersville a few years ago. They were adding a new line across the road, and drilled directly through their own line. Gas leaked into a house nearby until it blew up.

A few years ago I saw sewer line footage of a UGI gas line that had been run directly through an 8" line. Apparently they don't even bother to check to see where existing services already exist before they start drilling.

My meter used to be in the basement but was moved outside when they had to come for a problem. PECO has been moving all the meters in the neighborhood outside. The letter that was sent around said something about state law requiring it. Mine was already out there so IDGAF.

dealing with PECO gas right now too. One of their sub contractors stopped my wife in the driveway as she was leaving and said he had to access the inside of the house. Said had to look at the meter and would not provide ID. Well, thankfully my wife knows the meter is outside and politely told the guy to leave a card and we would contact them at our convenience.

PECO replaced the main down the road, and now the subs are doing individual hook ups. Saw my yard painted, and now are digging it up to replace the line from main to house. They also want to replace the short piece of metal line from the meter through the foundation. Same as OP, really don't want them in that portion of the basement.

Wonder if they would understand if I left a shovel and bag of lime in the corner.

Talk about bad luck! On the other hand...now you can tell them to make your house the last call on their day next time around and you should be able to go to work.

    I relent and they said between 8 and 4. I can't schedule a time.

Last time the water company wanted to come I told my wife to give them a time. And made sure I wasn't home during the time they were to get there. Did it twice more before she decided she would be there when they came.

They can't even read my meter anymore (UGI). Twice this year I received a bill that was four or five times the norm. I was away for a few weeks and my September gas bill should have been under $20. Instead it was $150. I read the meter and of course they were wrong. They sent somebody different to read the meter and he agreed with my reading. He left, and I started griping to the GF that I bet if the reading were abnormally low they would recheck it, but since it's way high no worries. Literally ten minutes later a third guy came to read the meter. He said it was too low and they didn't believe the reading. (remember I was away) Called that one!

    Bunch of assholes.
