    I get that all the time on older stocks. It is mold. Wipe it down with what ever people suggested, it doesn't hurt anything.

    Clean it with simple green or denatured alcohol then get a reusable silicon wipe cloth give it a good wipe down and store it somewhere else.

    Ballistol is downright putrid. Can't stand the smell and rarely use it
    Makes one wonder how many Germans were actually too sick to fight after using it. Maybe helped win the war.

    I've had luck with rubbing alcohol (depending on stock finish...can hurt some), then a thin layer of rust inhibiting grease after it dried and leave in direct sun for a few days to be extra sure.
