I'm right hand/eye dominant but ometimes my left eye likes to be the alpha.

I've never been able to shoot well with both eyes open.

Right hand, left eye and have been shooting that way since Parris Island in 1964. Old dog, new trick, I'll stick with what got me an expert medal in rifle and pistol.
On a side note...one trick we learned in real world shooting was that tying a string from the front site to the rear site (this was with M14's) helped a bit for night time shooting.
