Default S&W Model No. 1 third issue?

    Hey Troops!
A friend of a friend, asked me for help identifying a S&W breaktop... it is .22 short, birds head grip, fluted cylinder, writing on top of barrel.... it is in nice shape, I’m guessing 80%+.... my blue book is old and says $425.... for a model No. 1 third issue.... Serial # 172XX
do I have it ID’d correctly.... and would you say my value estimate is correct.... I really don’t know what I’m talking about with antique handguns!

I hope I’m not taking advantage....
By asking for your opinions... as I have done before!
    Thanks!
    Fred

I have a second edition somewhere in my house and have dug into it a little. It looks to me like you are in the price range if you can find a F to F buyer. GB always has some up for auction and you can check there for pricing. They don’t seem to be a particularly hot item. IIRC the serial numbers are on the cylinder and can easily identify which edition it is. Along with the physical differences.
