    Gnats from constant moisture.
Control the moisture with proper ventilation or a dehumidifier and the problem will go away.
haven't found a dehumidifier large enough for outside yet. just the sun but every time i try to turn it up, some rabid liberal trys to force me to drive a car that makes unicorn farts of fairy dust and green energy.

i haven't been bit by these stupid things, they just get in your face and nose.

I saw it in an old bathroom that didn't have proper ventilation.
Daily showers steamed up the room and there was fungus or mold around the window.
They had those little black gnats in there but there were none anywhere else in the house.

They can only survive with a food source. Where is the food source? You must be missing it somewhere.

They like empty beer cans and bottles. A couple drops are like a swimming pool to them.

Maybe fleas? Fleas live in the grass until a dog or cat comes along.

tiny tiny bug, tiny tiny food source.
mighty battle with critters smaller than a bullet. may we prevail!

fleas live on mice in grass like ticks that carry lyme? or they simply live in the yard?
iirc mice are #1 carrier of deer tick, they live, spread into yard looking for hosts, wind up on other animals and people.

OP Check areas where you store onions and potatoes. Also, the only help outside of vinegar traps is to keep and use a wet dry vac with water in the areas most contaminated. I have gnats now and my Rainbow sweeper with water basin is keeping me from losing it because of these little bastards.

The fleas live in the dense brush and grass and piles of old leaves or whatever, then they hop onto any host that wanders through.

Once they find a host I think they are there to stay.
Fleas are really a very tenacious bug.
Their eggs can lay dormant for years until they sense the presence of a live host.
