I was hoping for a nicer one, but still very happy to get this one after a year+ wait. The darker area is not as obvious, the picture really makes it stand out.

    Engraved info:

    Remington Rand Inc.
    Syracuse New York
    SN: 2030355

Can anybody tell me anything about this particular 1911? This will probably end up in my private collection.

Edit: Looks like manufacture date was 1944.

    Thanks for the PM.

I think it's absolutely awesome so hopefully you're not too bummed out about the condition. No matter what - you now own a piece of history. Congrats!

    Will you shoot it?

Also I really like that CMP hard case.

Well that is one big benefit of getting a worn one, you don't mind taking it to the range. Probably take it out this weekend and shoot a box of ammo out of it.

I believe the N capital O prefix on the serial number means it is a Remington Rand frame. So even though it was rebuilt you have a matching one.

The lighter parking on the center of the slide is from where they heat treated it to harden the slide stop notch. This is what happens and is not a defect.

What is the problem with its condition? Looks fresh out of the rebuild. You did good.

Has anyone ever bought a 1911 in the CMP Auction? If so what paperwork did they send you to fill out and send back with the payment.

Definitely a 'mixmaster' , Ser.No. makes it a late Dec 1944 Rem Rand frame.

    Earlier Type 1 slide , used ser.nos. 916405-935000.

Early wide spur hammer , would need better pics to tell manuf.

    Early Colt slide stop

Early Remington Rand frame ser. nos began with No. Later , after a big reorganization of the production line and procedures , they used NO.
