I sometimes wear an orange hat when leaving my stand during flintlock. Depends where I'm hunting. Just for safety.
Thanks, I would assume extended firearms in Chester or Montgomery counties, even if I am bow hunting, I should wear orange.

    I see two violations here.

1: Your lawn ornament does not have a proper trap license

2: Your lawn ornament is not wearing the required amount of blaze orange

Not required but a good idea. From the digest.

Hunters participating in the after-Christmas flintlock muzzleloader or
archery deer seasons are not required to wear fluorescent orange

(See Special Regulations Areas section for additional information.)

Got on stand about 5 PM last night. Hunting a great spot for a Northwest Wind with plenty of Cover. I'm about 15' up with grape vines ALL around my stand. Where I hunt deer are heavily pressured just like the rest of you PA Hunters and over the years I don't care how perfect a tree is for a stand, if it doesn't have cover and lots of it all around to break up my silhouette, I know I will get picked off.

SO last night about 5:30-5:45 I see a fawn at about 15 yards and I know the Momma can't be far off. The first I see the momma she is at about 25-30 yards and slightly up wind of me. I could have gotten a shot on her and taken my 3rd Doe of the season BUT I was specifically hunting Buck on the first nice cold front of the Bow Season. SO I let her walk. Her fawn was the first to get down wind of me but as most fawns are, she was clueless and did not seem to detect my scent. The fawn strolled from down wind directly under my stand and back to being up wind. Her LONG NOSE momma was NOT as foolish. I check my wind constantly while on stand with "free of charge" Milkweed floater seeds and I knew she was very close to my scent stream down wind. As soon as she stepped into my wind she went on high alert and looked DIRECTLY up into my tree. She could not make me out but she knew something was up. These types of Momma Doe Stand offs are an exciting part of bow hunting for me. Realize at this point there is NO WAY I am thinking of taking this DOE my only hope is that the doe does NOT snort and run off alerting all other deer. I might be completely crazy about this, but during these standoffs I make it a point to NEVER look the deer in the eyes, I honestly think they can sense eye contact, so I often close my eyes and focus on controlled breathing and relaxing my muscles because I know I can literally not move an inch. I must freeze ALL movement and this can cause muscles that are contracted to fatigue and start to shake. If the doe sees ANY movement she will snort and blow and hunt is over. This standoff went on for maybe 10 minutes this momma doe was within 10 yards of my stand and on high alert NOT taking her eyes off of me for less than a fraction of a second. She eventually walked back up wind and slowly and cautiously walked out of my scent and sight without blowing and snorting and alerting other deer. I'll bet she stomped her front leg more than a hundred times. I did see approximately 5 other deer after this encounter, nothing in range and no bucks. This motionless stand off was intense and exhilarating and an very enjoyable aspect of bow hunting.

Not to be dense, but I am. Anyway, it says in the regs that fluorescent orange is required for all small game seasons. So technically, since there always seems to be a small game season, we always have to wear orange? Now, is that if you have a rifle and are hunting for said small game? This makes no sense. If I am out with my bow, and since it is woodchuck time for most of the year, then well....? My guess is only IF you have some sort of rifle you need orange or what gives? Technically that's what it says.

Like STbear said: no orange required for flintlock season.....although if you are hunting in a SRA with an extended doe season, it is recommended.

I go out in flintlock season wearing 18th century garb....and yes part of that outfit is buckskin.

I get that part, I was asking if you are hunting deer, with a bow, and it is also a small game season, do you wear orange? They way the reg is written, you always have to wear orange during small game season which again is practically year round depending on creature.

Also, technically in 5C you can bow hunt until end of January, no orange, I get that.

But also in 5C is Bucks and Chester which you can also extended rifle antlerless. Again, I get that if you are not hunting with a rifle then no orange is required?

They write these regs up to get money I swear!!
