FCC after your BaoFeng!
FCC DA 18-980
Give up your BoaFengs! Your too stupid to use them without interfering with us. Think of the children!
Notice the similarity between the fight between a three letter agency and a group of hobbyists?
The slow drip of regulations that are baseless that preside over a legally purchased item.
You know what's really funny? He's got a petition going on, of all places, Change.org! Now that's just funny, the use of an organization like that to actually do some good: https://www.change.org/p/laura-smith...2-318a236cc861

Re: FCC after your BaoFeng!
They can have my Baofeng when they pry it from my cold dead hands, and I only ever use it in the FRS bands.

Re: FCC after your BaoFeng!
I got one of those as a Christmas gift. I can confirm that I AM too stupid to use it. I have no fucking idea how it works.
Maybe what I got just looks like the one in the pic ....whatever I still can't use it"It seems that the Constitution is more or less guidelines than actual rules"

Re: FCC after your BaoFeng!
The high power setting is too much for all of the FRS channels, and the low power setting is still too much for channels 8-14. If you pay The King $90 for a GMRS license and get entered into his database, you get to use full (5W) power on channels 1-7 of The King's airwaves. It is one of the FCC's silliest rules.
For amateur frequencies, nobody is asking to see a license when you buy a radio or power amplifier. You can buy a marine radio or a radio that operates on just about any useful frequency without showing a license. The only problem with the Baofeng is that it's cheap and other radio manufacturers are feeling the heat.
I can make a radio transmit on any frequency I want (including commercial broadcast) and at any power level I want. The only obstacles are money and desire to do so (and the fact that use of such radio would be illegal).Boy, I say boy, you're reaching the limits of my medication!
