    Default 6.5 Creedmoor is L O U D

Was on the range Friday firing a T/C Compass trying out various handloaded cartridges. Two different people, neither of which heard the other, remarked on how loud the report. Chrono says loads are in range. No device attached. Guess it's the volume/caliber ratio?

You bought a gun with a threaded muzzle, this seems like a very easy problem to fix

Atmospheric conditions? Maybe low cloud cover that day?

Barrel length? Of course, a shorter barrel than a 24" barrel on a Ruger Precision in 6.5 would certainly be "louder" no matter the load

Were the folks who heard the report octogenarians? Early teen boy-scouts? Just wondering about the auditory capabilities of whomever heard whatever...

Outdoor 100 yard range, roofed shooting positions, concrete base., shooting off a wooden shooting bench. Yes, it was overcast, 68 degrees, humiditity above 50 percent I would say. 22" barrel, 5-right.

Were the other guys shooting ARs? If so good for you. Show them what a real rifle sounds like!

Interestingly, one was shooting a civilized version of BAR.

This wouldn't be falls township range, would it? I was there the other week shooting my new Ruger American predator in 6.5 and while loud, wasn't that loud. My ar is just as loud, if not louder.
