So, I'm no expert, but the Digest says the following...

    During Any Big Game Season
Coyotes may be taken while lawfully hunting big game
(big-game orange requirements must be followed) or with
    a furtaker license.

My interpretation of that is that you have to have a legal weapon for that big game and wear the appropriate amount of orange.

Same thing I thought. Outside of any big game season you can use a semi but in season you're limited to those firearms. It would also seem that during archery you could only use a bow on them & you're dead on about the orange. My only question on that would be since I have my LTCF and that allows me to carry my Springfield in season, would I be allowed to take a coyote with that? It would have to be close range but I'm curious now.

    Coyotes
While there is no closed season for the hunting of coyotes, and coyotes may be hunted on Sundays, there are additional requirements for hunting coyotes during big-game seasons.
Outside of Any Big Game Season
    • Coyotes may be taken with a hunting license or a furtaker license and without wearing orange.
    During Any Big Game Season
    • Coyotes may be taken while lawfully hunting big game (big-game orange requirements must be followed) or with a furtaker license.
    Bait and Devices
    • Natural or manmade nonliving bait and any electronic or mechanical device can be used to attract coyotes for hunting or trapping.
    Bait Visible From the Air
    • The law allowing trappers to use any natural or manmade nonliving bait to attract coyotes does not permit the bait to be visible from the air. It is unlawful to bait a trap with meat, animal products or their facsimiles if the bait is visible from the air. Those hunting coyotes, however, may hunt over bait visible from the air.
    Dogs
Dogs are permitted to hunt furbearers.
    Sunday Hunting
Coyotes and foxes may be hunted on Sundays during open seasons, but other furbearers may not.
It is unlawful to take furbearers through the use of fish hooks, snagging hooks or any other hooks of similar design, or implements that are not lawful traps. A furtaker’s license is needed to trap all furbearers, including coyotes.

i am not a hunter but I was led to believe that the wearing of the orange was to prevent the hunter from being mistaken for game and being shot. IMO I'd be looking for reasons to wear it over reasons not to (I'm not completely ready to go just yet). Or does it make the hunter more visible to the coyote too?

That's definitely the main point but accidents still occur. From what I've read & seen with deer at least, they don't see color like we do. It's more important to break up your distinctly human outline & cover your scent. Animals don't particularly care what kind of camo you're wearing. It's said that deer see more in the UV spectrum and you should stay away from blue & I'm guessing purple as well. I'd assume coyotes see the same or a similar way but with either one you have to fool 3 of their senses

    Two questions:
What does ‘bait visible from the air ‘ mean exactly? Do we really have coyotes with aircraft?
Second, can we hunt coyote with AR15 in Bucks county?

It is to prevent birds of prey from seeing the bait and landing into a foot trap. The bait needs to be in the bottom of an angled hole.

My guess would be to not to attract birds of prey, but I've stopped trying to make sense of PA game laws a long time ago.

I believe the scattergun area laws only apply to big game.
