    Default It's been a year

According to the news, it's been a year since that nutjob brought bump stocks into the popular consciousness by shooting up a concert in Las Vegas.

The activists are calling for more laws because laws always stop criminals and the insane.

Yet somehow in that long and harrowing year, by the grace of God perhaps, we have managed to not lay waste to society with these senseless killing machines. Luckily we no longer have to worry, because our 2a friendly republican president, in his wisdom, is going to make good on his decree allowing ATF to ignore the definition of a machine gun, and finally ban these menaces to society, presumably along with similar weapons of war, such as belt loops.

Seriously, I'm a big Trump fan, but fuck him for this one.

Yo must be referring to the USAS shotgun not the SPAS 12. The USAS, the street sweeper, and striker 12 shotguns all require tax stamps even though they could be bought over the counter in the 90s. The SPAS 12 does not require a tax stamp, but it does fall under Bush's importation ban.

SPAS 12... the perfect example of an import ban that is based 100% on the cosmetics of the firearm.

I would expand that and say every firearm banned from importation under the Bush importation EO was banned due to cosmetic reasons. As far as the Street sweeper and Striker 12, the rotary drum magazine does not come off. The shooter has to load the shells by one by one by hand. Some of the later Striker 12 shotguns have a shell ejector, but most do not, therefore on those without the ejector the shells have to be manually ejected. These shotguns are obsolete because there are more choices available today that have a detachable magazine and don't require a tax stamp. Also the Striker 12, Street Sweeper and USAS are classified as "destructive devices" . According to ATF regulations, they could declared any shotgun with a bore greater than 1/2 in A destructive device if they believe it lacks "sporting purpose.

    (f) Destructive device.--The term “destructive device” means * * * (2) any type of
weapon by whatever name known which will, or which may be readily converted to,
expel a projectile by the action of an explosive or other propellant, the barrel or barrels of
which have a bore of more than one-half inch in diameter, except a shotgun or shotgun
shell which the Secretary or his delegate finds is generally recognized as particularly
    suitable for sporting purposes; . . .”
Note the secretary used to be the Secretary of the Treasury when ATF was under the Treasury Dept. Now it's the Attorney General.

So don't think that your Saiga shotguns and Mossburg shockwaves are safe from the reaches of the NFA.

The particular item that fulfills that purpose is the AK 47. Accept no substitute.
