400 firearms, sounds like a commercial shipment. You'd think such things would go to and from a caged, secured area within the warehouse with controlled, limited access. Of course, that's common sense.

One thing you can say about this country in 2018, common sense isn't all that common anymore.

I have to go along that it was an INSIDE JOB. I wonder if they have video cameras on the docks. Let the ATF and
FBI, DHS will be interviewing everyone on this one.

Not the FBI, they are all busy this week interviewing any woman that has ever heard the name Brett Kavanaugh

One other thing to consider. Did they know there were that many firearms in that facility or was it just dumb luck? I'm going with the former.

My guess? A large number of firearms are regularly shipped through this particular facility. Word got out. You just don't plan something and execute it in the time frame that the firearms make it to the facility and the time they'd be leaving.

That begs the question as to why UPS would leave that number of firearms in an unsecured facility over the weekend. I would rather see my order (sender's opinion) not sitting in any 1 facility over the weekend. If they treated firearms like perishables,, they couldn't sit anywhere that long.

"Diversity" hiring requirements pretty much stop routine background checks anywhere near urban areas (since they disproportionately exclude applicants of color, and "disparate impact" analysis is the enemy of common sense). So yes, this was an inside job, somebody let them in, somebody "forgot" to lock some doors or they made copies of the keys.

This applies to UPS and to USPS; there are a few USPS hubs that are famous for being black holes (in the astrophysics sense), where parcels just disappear from our universe and nobody even goes looking for them. Mostly, big hubs near urban areas with gang activity, and it just takes one infiltrator to set up a theft. The management doesn't really care, it's easier to deal with insurance claims than to fight the EEOC or defend lawsuits for wrongful termination, so the gangs will always have some people working inside.

I made 2 assumptions when I saw the headline. The surveillance pics confirm one of them, the "inside job" part will be true as well.

This is the inevitable consequence of tightening restrictions at FFL's. Just like putting good anti-theft devices into most cars caused a spike in carjackings and murders.
