I find the Glock 26 to be the perfect Summer EDC firearm and when I'm wearing a coat in the colder months, the Glock 19 comes with me. That's when I'm allowed to carry.

But choosing a duty gun is entirely different than choosing an EDC.

Besides the energy/effectiveness variable, theres also the consideration of magazine capacity. For example, in most common carry size (Glock 19ish) guns, you get 15 9mm in the mag. In .40, you get 12. Mo boolits is mo betta.

    for what its worth....
guy I work with found a used Glock 26 at a shop.. and he asked about trading in his Glock 23 that included a 9mm barrel.... gun in real nice shape.. they told him to keep it, as they didn't want to take in anymore 40 cal on trade because they said that 40 is a hard sell anymore..

I am not that bright but I know when to not look into the Sun.

Look at all the Federal Agencies and Police departments that are switching back to 9mm

of course if they can save $100 an office per year on ammo.. that adds up when you have several hundred or even thousand you are buying ammo for

Why spray only 10-12rds of .40 indiscriminately when ya can spray 16-18rds of 9mm , or 30-33 or more with an extended mag.

choose the one You can borrow and shoot the living snot out of. seriously...put 400 through it. is it the type of recoil You can hack that much? can You hit for shit with it? seriously...we tend to overthink things.
I own an m&p in 9, 40, and 45. I carry all three (no, not at the same time). depends on my mood. a difference of 2 rounds isn't a real dealbreaker for me. (carry an extra mag, if You feel like acting out a scene from the movie "Heat")

was the same with 1911s. 45 or 10...depended on my mood.

The caliber war has been played out over and over. The difference in price between nine and 40 won’t be too severe from an individual point of view.

I’m actually somewhat surprised that you’re about to start work as a constable and don’t already have your gun of choice.

I've been working as a constable for 3 years now.

You can get the background for why I'm just now getting a duty pistol here: http://forum.pafoa.org/showthread.php?t=206659
