I do have a plan on a hidden latching/securing system to keep the kids out, if they even discover it.

My concern was since it's nearly sharing a wall with the shower, would it be humid inside the wall? It's the perfect location for me, as long as my stuff doesn't rust.

    Is AC'd house too.

When you install it, you can include a vapor barrier of some kind on that side to insure moisture does not penetrate. That and a small desiccant unit should work fine.

I agree with you that I'm not seeing much of an issue there.
If there was a moisture issue it would be noticeable whenever someone was in the closet.
I think the stuff in the diagram would be fine.

Generally speaking there is no moisture traveling through shower walls from room to room.
It's only an issue if the bathroom lacks proper venting and the shower moisture travels out of the bathroom door and fills the area.
Or if there is some kind of failure in the shower water drainage leading to leakage behind the walls.

I tiled the shower myself, it's done right.

My only concern was steam maybe sneaking under the small gap at the bottom of the bedroom drywall/molding and up into the wall, but I guess steam travels up anyways. Paranoia. Thanks for confirming everything, I think I'll proceed with my super secret gun stash in the wall.

My safe seems to be at 32-36% and 70-75 degrees. That sound okay? That's what my gauges tell me.
