Is it military or civilian production?

The W&S Mk. 4 was produced for a very long time (circa 1924-1979). A lot were imported over the last ten years as police surplus. Some even have a crossbolt safety. Is it one of the WW2 guns with rough milled finished marked "war finish"? Condition is important, but a lot more than just that determines a fair market value.

WW2 stuff of any kind is going crazy right now. I could give you what my 3 year old guide on collecting military guns suggests, but it would be out of line with what is being asked right now.

    Pictures would help.

Update: if this helps. My pricing guide Standard Catalog of Military Firearms from 2016 listed a wartime gun as $425 in VG condition and $300 for the more common postwar guns in same condition. That is assuming it is in the usual .38 S&W cartridge (know to the Brits as .38/200).

Fyi: there are a number of mk.iv at auction on Gunbroker.com at the moment....asking prices range from $425 and up. No bids on any.
