What do u think of the new G45?

I have no particular affection to Glocks but after reading about the new G45 its peaked my interest. I can't really say why. Handled one in my LGS, liked the feel of it and the trigger and will have to see if they add one to their rental collection, I'd give it a try. My wife has a 19X and I really don't like the sites on it when indoors. The dots just blur together making it hard for me to get on target. They're better outdoors. (Bypassing the whole low-light purpose of night sites here.) The G45 is available with standard Glock sites as well as night sites.

Me? It's an Austrian version of the FN509. I own a few Glocks and have no problem with them. But lately their new product offerings and updates to "perfection" do nothing more than make me roll my eyes.

I have to agree with you. Why is Glock making Hybrids?

After having handled a couple of G45s at different stores, I've been thinking about getting a G45, then having my buddy do a grip chop, down to a 26 size grip.

He's done a couple of 19s down to 26 size and they turned out pretty good. I borrowed one for a while and liked it. I talked to him yesterday and he says, yeah he could do it no problem. I think that it would be a neat idea, since I really like front slide serrations and it wouldn't have any finger grooves. Plus I'm anxious to give the Gen 5 trigger system a go.

Something to ponder...

I picked one up and wasn't impressed. Didn't shoot any better than my Glock 19s (Gens 2 and 4). Ended up trading it on a Sig P320 Carry.

I sold my 19, sold my 17. The grip length is what sold me on 45. My pinky hangs off the 19's grip, I shot my 17 more for this reason and carried the 19. If you stack the 45 or the 17 on top of the 19, the grips are almost the same length with a mag in the 19. Not a big deal on concealability. The shorter barrel is more comfortable for inside the waistband carry then the 17, (IMO). It's like the 19x, the best of both worlds, but with a flared mag well, it comes in black and you can buy it with or without night sights. I had to get one...
