    Default Long Gun travel cases

I am taking a hunting trip that requires me to bring 2 firearms. I bought a Boyt hard case that will accommodate a scoped rifle and a shotgun with the barrel removed.

I don't really want to cut the foam to customize for these guns because next time I travel, it may be 2 different firearms.

Has anyone done some sort of generic cut that will accommodate different firearms? Any drawback to this other than the cool factor?

    Pictures would be great.

Does the foam pull right out? Can you maybe get a second piece of foam and cut it different for two different uses?

I thought about that but then I have all these foam panels every time I used a different combination.

It has 3 pieces of foam total. on the bottom of the case there are 2 stacked together than 1 on the lid. It wont close without the cutout. Too bulky. I was thinking of buying some foam strips and use them to divide the guns so they don's bump into each other.

Could you surgically cut it out for two guns and keep the extra pieces and install them when you only have one in there?

Can you close it on the guns with just the middle piece of foam out. Maybe get some of those pipe insulation pieces (foam tubes) to separate the guns.

I have a case with the 3 pieces of foam like you describe.

I took the middle piece out, and put a piece of 1" rigid foam insulation between the bottom of the case and the lower piece of foam. Now when I close the case, the foam really forms around the rifles and keeps everything in place without having to have cutouts.
