If I was a millennial who can't go anywhere without a "sport" water bottle lest I dehydrate, I'd carry two such bottles, the second being a red one filled with a saturated solution of sodium bicarbonate in water.

For those that are able, avoid crowds/cities. Where I'm at, there is little chance of this occurring...and if it did, the perp most likely wouldn't be around for long.

I'd want excess baking soda in the bottom of the bottle, so I or someone could pour more water in, shake, and apply to the affected areas. If there was an inch or more of excess baking soda at the bottom, a person could get a couple refills if water was available.

Baking soda solution WILL NOT neutralize hypochlorite bleach, which has a pH around 11 or more. You'd need to carry a third bottle with boric acid solution, widely used to flush eyes and skin that came in contact with hydroxides and other alkalis.

But again, if I was a millennial I'd have my ever-present backpack containing my blankie and binky among other essentials of modern millennial life, so I'd have room and means to carry a third bottle of boric acid solution.

But, I'm always profiling surroundings so if I saw a tense middle eastern type I'd probably distance myself to avoid a close quarters encounter.

I'd be suspicious if that person had skinny limbs and neck, and a substantial girth.

Same with a knife attack, pray you can catch it happening before you have a few extra holes in your chest.

Otherwise, I would imagine its very difficult to avoid in a crowded city like area.
