What Gov Wolf says about gun control, 2nd
.
2018 Pa. governor's race: What Gov. Tom Wolf says about gun control, Second Amendment
Here's what Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf has said and done about gun control and the Second Amendment.
Wolf has supported:
expanding background checks to cover private sales of long guns, including shotguns and rifles;
banning bump stocks — devices that allow semi-automatic weapons to fire more rapidly, mimicking the speed of automatic weapons;
increasing gun restrictions for defendants in domestic violence and protection-from-abuse cases.
For the domestic violence legislation, Wolf has backed Senate Bill 501 from state Sen. Tom Killion, R-Delaware County.
That bill would prohibit defendants with final protection-from-abuse orders against them from possessing guns, and they would no longer be allowed to hand over guns to a friend, relative or neighbor for safekeeping. Instead, they would have to turn the guns over to law enforcement or a federally licensed firearms dealer.
After the Parkland, Florida, shooting left 17 people dead in February, Wolf said he wasn't sure "why any human being would need to have an assault weapon," according to the news website Vox.
But he said the federal government needed to take action on the issue, because it is too easy to travel to different states to deliver guns.
Wolf promised to veto legislation aimed at preventing local municipalities from enacting their own gun ordinances.
Wolf has faced some controversies over guns. In January, he told WESA that the state police wouldn't be taking guns away from people who receive a medical marijuana card.
And after he signed a statewide disaster declaration in response to the opioid crisis, his administration denied claims by Republican challenger Scott Wagner that the measure would limit firearm rights.
In 2014, the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund opposed Wolf and backed the incumbent Republican, Tom Corbett.

He attended school in Great Britain, spent time in India and intellectually slummed it for years before proving that he was good enough for government work.
If he supported our right to self defense using modern items, without foolish impediments, I'd be amazed.
