30/30 lever or hi point 45 carbine for home defense
Alright guys I know there are better options but if we can just stick to these that would be great. I can shoot both well. Do live in a town house so both would go through walls. Lever gun 6 shots, hi point 9.
With all that said what do you think
I know the shotgun by the bed and 45 pistol in a drawer but lets use my scenario. Thanks guys

Within your house to defend yourself against a home invasion, a pistol is more practical than a long gun.
More maneuverable, better retention, less likely to be taken from you in close quarters. How can you have any cookies if you don't drink your milk?

For HD, of just these two, the Hi-point.
Larger capacity, quicker second shots. No action to work.
I thought about both. Ended up getting a M1 Carbine.Corruptissima re publica plurimae leges

The Hi point would be my choice, I will take a carbine including one chambered in a pistol caliber over a handgun or a shotgun any day.
Bullet selection is important so I would spend more time looking into that rather then even considering the 30.30.

Just get a lever gun in .45lc or .44 mag, as many or more shots than the hi-point, and in a better cartridge.

As discussed above, no action to work with a semi-auto.
Hi-Point carbine is pretty short for ease of use.

When it's released... Extar EP45. Takes Glock mags. Early reviews have been very positive. Reviews of EP9 have been very positive. Add a suppressor, ya know, for funsies...

As much as I think HiPoint carbines are not much more than a toy for range plinking, if limited to those two, I'd choose the HiPoint.
Short, compact, faster to put on target, faster follow up shot.
That said, I will not hesitate to use my 357 mag lever action carbine in that role, with it's shorter barrel than a 30-30, and greater mag capacity.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!
