General observation of price-points
Without naming the source I purchased from, I will say the scope I recently purchased (actually two...one for me and one for my son ) was listed as a crossed-thru $499 and offered for $399. That presented the appearance of a nice hundred dollars off, plus free shipping.
Scope came today, and I can't wait to get on the range with it atop my 6.5 Creedmoor.
I noticed the box didn't have an HS in the model label, HS presumed to indicate Hunting Scope. This is marked Tactical. Other than that, it is the scope pictured in the catalog as an HS. But I got curious, and searched the 'net using the manufacturer's product number. I found 9 vendors offering the scope for $399 and free shipping, not including the one I bought from. A tenth wanted $549 (!) Wow.
This all started out with my youngest son sending me info on a good deal....nice scope marked down $100.....listed in a mailed catalog he had received. I and oldest son bit. OK. If that's the way this vendor does business, it may cost him my reduced future purchases. It will be lower on the go-to source as I shop in the future, and by my exercising more caution.

They most likely show the MSRP slashed out and list it for retail which is pretty common.

Almost every "reduced price" you see is bullshit.
They count on you accepting what your brain tells you at a glance.
"WOW! Great deal!" (even when it's not)I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: General observation of price-points
Grice Gun Shop's newspaper-like sale flyers are famous for listing page after page of their everyday prices. 95% of the sale ad prices are their regular prices. There are some few items discounted as "come in" prices, but the flyer still packs in the suckers from all over PA and a few neighboring states.

So, the OP is angry enough to piss and moan about it, but not enough to clue us in to who the bad actor is. Well then, all I can say is, go cry to someone else.

Manly man, be assured, I am not angry. Nor am I crying. Just venting. It's my own dumb fault, for sure. Now go pick on someone else.
PM sent. A friendly one.Last edited by Bang; September 10th, 2018 at 07:22 PM.

Re: General observation of price-points
Yeah, I’m in a foul mood. Just arrived to my vacation and I get 16 hours here and have to leave. MANDATORY EVACUATION! I need a victim. I want to rip off someone’s head and shit down their neck!
I think all of us hate shady business practices, whether it’s bait and switch, or faulty advertising, or any one of a dozen other gimmicks. It sucks!

It's a sign of the times, folks. Caveat emptor.
JC Penney, Sears, Macy's, Kohl's sued for fake sale pricing
"Customers have the right to be told the truth about the prices they’re paying — and to know if a bargain is really a bargain," said Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer in a statement. "My office will fight to hold retailers responsible for their practices and to ensure consumers can make informed choices when spending their hard-earned money."Last edited by str8shooter; September 10th, 2018 at 08:30 PM.
You are a straight white man. You don't get to be the victim, sweetie.
