Re: General observation of price-points
It pays to shop around, I've saved thousands in the past year alone.
Usually when people talk about being financially successful they talk about saving and investing and all of that. The other side of it is keeping more of your own money. I rarely buy anything unless I have a coupon code or there is a sale off of the regular price or some other thing I can find or negotiate. I use the internet quite a bit and if there is something I am interested in I save the bookmark and will watch it until I can find a deal I am happy with.

Re: General observation of price-points
Sorry to hear that. We did this time of year, for 10 years, in the obx and have had vacations cut short but that’s just ridiculous. I remember one year when the owner of our rental got us into a friend’s place, all the families turned away at check in, due to storm surge flooding. Our last day the lucky dog (our normal place) had the water receded enough to get in.

I think all the roads leading to and from the coast areas will be all traffic in one direction for evacuation....inland bound.

Re: General observation of price-points
My girlfriend likes to bargain shop for clothes and stuff at the discount stores that sell the leftover runs from the full price stores.
The prices on the tags are so ridiculous they have to be made up.
She buys a shirt for $10 and it has a tag on it that says the original price was $150.
I think somebody in the backroom just sits there putting fake price tags on everything. How can you have any cookies if you don't drink your milk?

Re: General observation of price-points
The old you get what you pay for applies to the "outlet store". They are actually selling lower grade products and in some cases seconds.
For example-buy a Sony television at Sams or Costco or the like and yes the price is lower than a dedicated retail store, but the parts in the set will be a combination of old and new technology. These are actually special orders, fulfilled on a business model enabling the manufacturer to move older circuits for profit instead of deposition in a dumpster.

Re: General observation of price-points
Yeah, I’m in a foul mood. Just arrived to my vacation and I get 16 hours here and have to leave. MANDATORY EVACUATION! I need a victim. I want to rip off someone’s head and shit down their neck!
I think all of us hate shady business practices, whether it’s bait and switch, or faulty advertising, or any one of a dozen other gimmicks. It sucks!

Re: General observation of price-points
"Generally, newspaper advertisements, price quotations, and catalog prices are just invitations to negotiate and cannot be accepted in a contractually-binding manner. No seller has an unlimited supply of any commodity and therefore cannot possibly be deemed to have intended to make a contract with everyone who sees the advertisement or seeks to accept the price offered." There is a Supreme Court ruling supporting this, however IANAL.
