This could be anything from terribly bad judgement, to blatant carelessness, to a simple, honest mistake with a horrific outcome.

Nah. I judge her guilty of murdering an innocent man in his own home. Sentence is death.

I'll change my mind if evidence to the contrary comes to light.

We will need some more facts. Was the apartment next door or down the hall? And when you opened the door did the furniture and room setup look similar?

Until I hear otherwise I am doubting her story.

I can't find the story where I read this but the report said that she tried her key and it didn't open the door. She then tried the combo/keypad and that too didn't open the door. Then the guy comes to the door to see who's trying to get in and the officer shoots him (thinking he had broken into her apartment). Only problem she was on the wrong floor. She lived 1 floor above.

I can't find the story where I read this but the report said that she tried her key and it didn't open the door. She then tried the combo/keypad and that too didn't open the door. That might make a little more sense in her defense to a Jury. But still.... you can't just go into someones house, kill him , then say MY Bad. She will need a great lawyer to be acquitted of all charges.

That brings up another question..........Was she in uniform? If so I doubt the man rushed or came at her. She just saw him and instantly shot him.

That report also said she was in uniform and she pulled her service pistol and fired.

There's also something going around that other tenants here an argument just before the shooting started. That will be interesting to hear what comes of this part of the story.
