Re: Why Would You Buy a Derringer?
Prior to the 90s, I heard of some gun owners buying these with the intend to carry concealed. There wasn't many small carry guns outside of a .22 or.25 cal. available back then other than a snub nose revolver or the Walther PPKs. However now the market is flooded with small handguns for deep concealment this rendered the derringer obsolete and a novelty gun.

Re: Why Would You Buy a Derringer?
I've got at least 3 of them right now, and have had others in the past.
I like all sorts of guns. My smallest firearm is a derringer, a Davis Ind. 32ACP. ...which does occasionally get carried when I need to be absolutely concealed due to venue, events, etc.
Sometimes I'll carry that Davis Ind. or my .38spl Cobra derringer as a backup, 2nd backup, or 3rd backup. (yes, I have been known to carry 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 guns - no faster reload than a New York Reload)
My bucket list does include an American Derringer, someday. The Bond Derringers are just too big, heavy, and tank'ish for what I'd want a derringer for, but I'd probably buy one anyways if I hit the lotto.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515

Re: Why Would You Buy a Derringer?
I have a NAA .22 Mag (that I lost in a boating accident). I carred it a few times, but after some range time with it and ammo capacity considerations, I quickly concluded that a knife is far more practical for SD.
Still a fun novelty item.

The original posted question answer is cool. You have to own some cool shit before you dirt-nap. Some adults have coloring books. I’d rather keep my 45-70 derringer, thank you. It’s the same with, naa revolvers, desert eagles, shock wave 12ga, hi-point carbines, governor and judge revolvers, zombie guns all that stuff. Why else buy an mp5 or ar and ak pistols? Cool baby. Fun! Pursuit of happiness. Foundation. It’s the constitution mutha f......... Poofa forever! (Fist high over head)
