Re: Deer Anatomy
Good video for newbies, but nothing new there.
I always recommend that new bow hunters use 3-d targets for the same reason. You can place the deer at different angles and it becomes apparent where shot placement needs to be based on angle of the target.

Re: Deer Anatomy
It should be a part of Hunter Saftey Course,But for the first timer who gets his deer and has no idea what to do next it is always a good point that an experienced hunter can guide and assist ! I have seen deer left with anus intact and ruining meat, cut bladders spilled onto the meat and some experienced hunters gut and drag their deer a mile getting dirt within the cavity, then spoiling meat ! I always dragged entire deer within a reasonable distance to my truck and then gutted and bagged deer and in warmer weather an ice bag in the cavity makes for a good idea !

Re: Deer Anatomy
Bagged deer? Also, you don't gut until you get to your vehicle? Isn't it heavier that way and also I thought you were supposed to do that at kill site? Newbie here so excuse the questions.

Re: Deer Anatomy
There is no written in stone where to gut your deer while out in the wild,My preference is to keeping the deer cavity clean,Yes it is a bit heavier but when then is 2-4 inches of snow its a breeze to drag out. There are no silly questions, that is how we get experience and learn.Curious will you be hunting with a hunter with a few deer to their credit ? The one thing you must definitley do is tag the deer immediatley !

Unless you're stach, the polish hunter. Stach was dragging his deer by the leg and started complaining it was to hard to do,
getting caught on everything etc... His partner stach said, drag it from the antlers, its much easier. After an hour, stach turns to
stach and says, you're right, it is a lot easier, but we are getting really far from camp

Re: Deer Anatomy
I had to take a mandatory archery safety class in NY to obtain an archery license there. The instructor had a similar target. It is a great visual tool, especially for the new hunters. I generally wait for a PERFECT broad side archery shot. Quartering away is okay too. Quartering to is a no no.
