Re: Gun shop employee says he needs to see LTCF
Was it a new guy? Been there plenty of times and have never been asked to produce anything other than a drivers license when purchasing a firearm. In fact, all of my experiences there have been happy and uneventful. Definitely give the manager a call... someone needs retrained or replaced...

Re: Gun shop employee says he needs to see LTCF
Exactly.
Regardless of whatever imaginary possible criminal act the shop can come up with to justify requesting it, he's overstepping his bounds - by leaps and bounds.
Maybe he's a cop working there part time. The two worst sources for legal info on guns is (a) cops and (b) gun shops.
Imagine a cop - working at a gun shop. Hoooo-weeee!!!I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: Gun shop employee says he needs to see LTCF
Just like he’s carrying it now, without one in the chamber. Just let’s not have that discussion again.
He also said his firearm was not listed on the fit list of the cheap nylon holsters he wanted to buy.
Before they moved I was told they would never have black rifles because they are a store set up for “sportsman shooting” (hunting) as they put it. Of course that changed with demand. They also charge $60 for a face-to-face transfer, last time I asked, which is ridiculous. I was even told by someone down the road at Kerpers that the owner called their owner trying to bitch her out for doing transfers for 20 bucks saying she’s ruining their reputation.
Are used to stop in weekly on my way home from work on Friday evenings to see if any new guns I’m interested came in used. On one particular night an new salesman started walking in my direction when another told him not to bother because “that guy never buys anything”. I chose not to bring up the five or six hand guns I did buy there in the past.
I’m not looking to bash their store, this post really was about the awkward demand for my buddy’s license to carry firearms. I should have left the line about other absurdities out of my original post.
In my opinion if the guy is an off-duty law-enforcement officer he should’ve identified himself as such or simply offered a friendly reminder to a potential customer about when a ltcf is required. The opinion that he was just making sure the guy he was about to sell a nylon halter to was not a criminal is valid but not one I agree with.DDG-8 "Sine Timore"

C'mon guys, go easy on him. It's a liability issue. Given current political climate, that affects all aspects of operations including insurance, and the deliberate instigation by left, any store is once "offense" from being closed.
I applaud those, who bold, but I understand the cautious ones too.Je suis déplorable

Should ask to see a valid driver's license as well. Wouldn't want to risk doing business with someone who may be driving illegally.
