Re: Easton firearms refinishing let me down
Why not just call them and tell them what happened.
If it's a mom and pop shop then stuff can happen unexpectedly with nobody to open the place.
If you like their work maybe they will offer you a discount to make it right.
I don't know them, but that's what I would do in similar circumstances. How can you have any cookies if you don't drink your milk?

Re: Easton firearms refinishing let me down
Plan on it for sure, just disappointed I wasted three hours overall when I could’ve been doing the projects I needed to get done back home. Guess I needed to vent lol

Re: Easton firearms refinishing let me down
When I go to a mom and pop shop either very early or very late in the day, I always call the day before to confirm they will be expecting me.
Saves a lot of headache and can also lead to them doing me a favor and staying open a little longer if I'm running late. How can you have any cookies if you don't drink your milk?

Re: Easton firearms refinishing let me down
I think it is pretty lousy to gun onto a gun forum and slam a buisness for something like this. What are you trying to achieve ? It serves no purpose. How about making a phone call before you drive 3 hours?

Re: Easton firearms refinishing let me down
If a business isn’t open on stated hours I’m sure all of you would be ok with that. Not! I’m not smashing the business, but typically if a place says open at 9 it’s open at nine. I’m just saying it didn’t leave a good impression. Take it as you may, but if you did the same drive trusting they would be open then you would be disappointed. But ohhh it’s my fault for assuming.

Re: Easton firearms refinishing let me down
I hear what you are saying. My recourse would be to contact the vendor and ask why they were not open.
I see this kind of thing all too often. I use a small ffl for my transfers. He had something of mine and wasn't answering the phone. I later found out his wife took ill, was in the hospital, and passed away. His focus was on that not a lower I had shipped to him.
I would have felt like a piece of shit if I left him nasty messages or slammed him on the internet.

Re: Easton firearms refinishing let me down
Kinda is a fault to just assume something is open, especially if that long of a drive is involved. Not saying they shouldn't have been open, but if I'm driving hours to go somewhere I'm damn sure going to make sure they will be open before I go. My favorite LGS has been closed before when I tried to stop in. It's run by one guy and his son, so sometimes things come up and they have to close early or open late. I look as it as my fault for not calling to make sure. Granted it's only a 20 minute drive, so not too big a deal.
You can always try contacting them here. Brian Ahern is the owners screen name I believe. He's been a member on here for years and posts semi-frequently.

Re: Easton firearms refinishing let me down
EFR is a one man shop run by a good person. Last time I went he literally had his parents sitting in the shop and he spent an hour talking with me about my project. He is a member here and on many forums and is very easy to work with. His place is not a typical store. It's a guy working in his garage shop.
i would delete this thread and just contact him. In the end you will be satisfied and happy.
