Next homemade storage box. This time for 1911A1
This is just a few pictures of another storage box I made with a theme. I purposely did it with real simple construction to keep with the look I’m going for. I originally had Phillips head screws but decided to find slotted instead to try to keep it looking older. A good suggestion a friend made was to drill a few holes in the side for knotted rope handles to mimic a larger crate. The pistol is an Auot Ordnance but someday perhaps a genuine surplus pistol may reside in it. If anyone has any recommendations for it or suggestions for the next one please let me know. Thanks for looking, Brian

That's awesome. (I can be hard to impress with this sort of thing)
Maybe a few "dings" in the wood to give it a "used" look?I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

May I suggest adding the NSN to the lid lettering?

Great suggestion, thank you.
The you original guy I bought the stencil from could only do 13 characters per line and didn’t have the tack ( - ) character. I just found one that can do the full NSN though.Last edited by bripro; August 19th, 2018 at 08:41 AM.

Buy four shorter stencils with the number groups, and get a small piece of stencil board from them and cut your own tic. Stencil a number group and a tic every day, and in four days you're done. Put down a strip of 1" or 3/4" masking tape below the bottom edge of the stencils to use as a guide line.

I happen to know someone, right here in Lancaster that has a stencil machine. I could probably get any stencil made that you want.

Honestly I didn’t. I just transferred it from the cardboard box the pistol came in.
