P08 Luger Love?
This is my 1939 vintage 42. Sold my 1916 double date and kicked in that much again and some to buy this at the Gettysburg show. All matching except for the period correct magazines. I was NOT going to spend that much but wife insisted.... who am I to argue???

Re: P08 Luger Love?
Unca Ted relieved a German captain of his Luger in World War II
He brought that back and dad wound up with it.
The grips were broken, so dad whittled new ones out of cherry.
It was a 1918 that went back through arsenal in 25.
Looked great until the tragic boat fire that claimed my firearms.American by BIRTH, Infidel by CHOICE

Re: P08 Luger Love?
Lugers are not everyone's cup of tea. That said, everyone who loves classic handguns ought to handle one at the very least.
Congrats on a fine, fine collectable that will last you and your heirs for a bit elegant, working craftsmanship at its best.

True, they may not be everybody's but the 9mm round remains the gold standard that most is either chambered for or compared to over 116 years later. Me, I just like the operation and looks of the toggle. In my flying days a .38 was more the norm tho I would have much rather have had a .45.

dark one is a 1915 commercial with a dudes name on the backstrap from an artillery unit...he survived the war, the pistol was brought back from the 2nd war.
lighter one is a 1911, with a medical train unit mark on the backstrap. on a luger forum and some dude in the neitherlands has one of its brothers less than a 100 serial numbers from it.
both dwm's.it's only metal, we can out think it....

Re: P08 Luger Love?
I have a Swiss Model 1906 made by DWM. It's a very low SN so it's probably second or third year production. It came out of a private collection in Switzerland a few years ago. it's near mint condition and has a P-47 marking denoting the year it's Swiss Army user acquired it for his personal use. I found a proper Swiss holster and loading tool at a friend's table at oaks. The Swiss Lugers are in the .30 Luger cartridge which can take some searching for in the US. Fortunately I found a few hundred rounds pretty easily.
I took mine to an outdoor shoot with some friends. The magazines loaded relatively easily. Thank God for the loading tool. I know why those were issued now. We were shooting at two steel gongs about 12" in diameter. One at 25 yards and the other at 50 yards. In a classic off hand pose I hit 8 out of 8 every time at 25 yard gong; and in a two hand hold 8 out of 8 every time at the 50 yard gong. Not too shabby for a pistol that is almost as twice as old as I am.
