I see I have to get the form notarized as well as this would be my 1st time?

Yes I believe that is a requirement.

    When were you there?
I got 2 rifles from the CMP and they were both excellent.

He was talking about the M1 rifles that the OP was speaking about. I tend to agree with him, you can bump from Field to service grade for $150.00 and it’s worth it. Or you can pay $1200.00 for the same service grade rifles on the classifieds here.

    Thanks.
My last purchase was several years ago.
It's always been the case that their inventory varies given the nature of the product.
For those that can make the trip it is definitely worth going, and it allows you to inspect the rifles and choose your purchase.

Out of all the milsurplus rifles I've bought and sold I've never owned a Garand and the 1st time I've ever shot one was UJ's at this year's group shoot and now I have the bug. I plan to move a few rifles including a legit 91/30 PU sniper in order to fund a nice one. My brother has ordered quite a few from the CMP and always did pretty well.

Maybe taking the ride to pick it out is the way to go.

The guys at the Camp Perry CMP were super nice and extremely helpful when I was there.
I purchased one Garand in person and one by mail and both were great.

Prices are only going up! I bought a service grade a few years ago for the price that the field grade is now.
