Flash Flooding August 2018
So there was major flash flooding Monday and Tuesday in the North East area of PA, Susquehanna County took it hard.. as did areas to our South.
My place is dry with only a bit of gravel washed off the drive.
Everybody else ok??? Anybody need help?Retired US Army

A lot of rain here in southern Wayne county, but no damage...just the sump pump running quite a bit.

Re: Flash Flooding August 2018
We got hammered on Saturday by the worst rain I've seen here in 20 years for two hours straight, and probably the most localized.
I think it was the South Mountain/Chestnut Hill effect.
No damage besides a few dying ash branches, and my grass is even longer.
Lots of localized flooding in several places in the area.

Re: Flash Flooding August 2018
Spent hours in the rain digging relief ditches to direct run-off away from house. Basement flooded (the guy who built the house thought it was a good idea to bring all the roof drains and water that should go into footing drains into the basement. Some in a half-fast system under the basement floor some in a 4" plastic drain pipe that he hid behind concrete block walls. Naturally, it leaks like a sieve. Seeps and springs popping up all over the place. Bradford County got hit pretty bad too. A number of roads were closed between here and Sayre.

Re: Flash Flooding August 2018
Finally able to drive into Montrose.. the town looks ok.
The roads in are another story. The damage caused by the flash floods and run off is indescribable. Tiny cricks now wide rivers or if they have receded a wide swath of large rocks and timber. The little Community of Snake Creek on Route 29 took a direct hit with pictures on the national news. Benton and New Albany also slammed. I hope the forecast rains do not bring a repeat.Retired US Army

Re: Flash Flooding August 2018
I have a fairly long driveway. It all washed out into the road. 2ft stony speed bump across a fairly busy road.
Luckily for me, the road was closed due to a creek washout, so the road crews didn't take/move my driveway elsewhere before I could pull it back where it belongs.
