Answer: Yes, I am, or at least I'm going to be turned so he's in my normal field of view.

In my opinion, if someone can sneak up on you in a public location, you probably shouldn't be carrying a firearm openly.

Personally I only CC, but try to make sure no one is able to access my firearm. I usually do this by pointing my gun away from people or like someone else said, use my elbow to cover it. The premise of this thread is one reason I don't OC, I would be worried that I couldn't be situationally aware 100% of the time.

So you never stop to talk to someone, scan the shelves for an item you can't find, read down through a shopping list or do any other countless things that requires your attention? Or are you able to navigate through life keeping 100% of your attention on situational awareness?

"Nobody could ever touch my gun" sounds an awful lot like "It's impossible that *I* could ever have a negligent discharge."

Scruff, you don't really need to point out the absurdity of their claims, but I guess it's good that someone is doing it.

I mostly carry concealed but on the occasion, I do OC the no enter zone around me increases substantially and I attempt to be more hypervigilant. When in line at the store I go in front of my basket.
Good way for that dude to get a broken arm.

Of course, not much is 'impossible' or could 'never happen', but as others have stated, other precautions like keeping a hand or elbow near/touching the firearm, especially when people are elbow to elbow with you, carry position (like near front in stead of 6), or concealed (a big one) go a long way.

Another one of those ways that make our absurd claims sound reasonable.

Yeah, there's reality, and then there's absurd claims that nobody could ever touch your gun because your focus is on your gun 200% of the time, and nothing else.

You can never eliminate every single possibility. Some very simple precautions can mitigate some of the risks. Like I said I always pull my cart through checkout. I hate people crowding me and especially when I'm using my debit card. Carry at 3 oclock and my elcow is against the grip.
Over 3 million miles being aware of a dozen gauges, 75ft of vehicle and what's going on all around you on the road gets you a heightened sense of awareness. Plus being a mindreader as to what the other orons are thinking of doing.
