Dreyse 1907 ?

So found this in the back of my dad's safe wrapped in a old cotton bag. I think its a Dreyes 1907. Its pretty beat up. Anyone know anything about them? Is it worth cleaning up and shooting or just keeping it like it is as a back of the safe gun?

i'd only oil it up and give it proper grips.

It's a Dreyse all right. I had one just like it many years ago, right down to the home-made grips. It's a .32 acp gun, so you should be able to shoot it if it isn't broken.

I have one I inherited from my dad, cool little gun but last I checked they have little collector value. My Dryse has nazi proof marks', I have the holster and a wound badge. I only fired it once decades ago but it was accurate enough to hit a can at about 10 yards.

Yea , its not pretty enough to be a collectible. I might just try to clean it up some and just keep it in the safe. Who knows , maybe Ill take it to the next gun show and see if one of the old military guys want to trade something for it. I really dont have any emotional attachment to it because it was probably my grandmothers 2nd husbands and my dad got it when she died.

The one thing about the Dryse is you don't see very many of them around. I've had a interest in firearms since the mid nineties and I think I've only seen one Dryse pistol for sale at a gun shop or show. Although my dad didnt bring it back from WW2 it still has sentimental value to me because it was my dad's pistol.

I'd tear it down, carefully clean it. Lightly oil it. Put it in a baggy in a climate controlled safe.


Shoot it? Only if I slugged it first. Just in case that the bore is a bit different from modern 32 ACP. Go over it carefully.

My worry about using such an old firearm is a lack of spare parts.

I have two relative's firearms. Both were prized possessions. They'll never see a range again.
