    Default Ready for fall

I have been to camp, my local spot and my lease in NY. Everything is ready. I have stands set up and prepped on the private property and the lease. Cameras out in all spots and have some promising looking bucks on several of them. If I woke up tomorrow and it was October, I wouldn't be upset.

I still have a couple of food plots to get in, but most of my stands are up. Hope to finish up this week. I like to stay out of my hunting area for at least a month hopefully two before opening day. Now it's mostly time to practice, practice, practice. With the bow, in-line, a few revolvers, and the flintlock. The truly hard part is to stay away from my trail cameras for more than a week.

Got my sons and my tags, ordered some practice ammo, and started reminding the casual hunter friends that it's time to start thinking about it.

I have a small buck in my backyard I am feeding for the hell of it

Goal for this week is to wander into the woods, trim the path in, and setup my trail cam. Debating grabbing a ladder stand this fall versus lugging my climber.

I prefer my climber over a ladder during archery. Easier to put in the "perfect" spot. You know how it goes. You put your stand on the top of a ridge and see deer using the bottom. MOVE LADDER STAND TO BOTTOM and the deer start using the top....

Yup, happened to me a few times last season, BUT, lugging in a climber at 4am is sucky.

Came close to falling out of the stand over the years but not yet and it can only be a matter of time ! IYears ago we were partnered with a friend and jointly owned 300 acres,we built stand all over property they were like penthouses, comfortable and safe and with roofing and three sides to cover-up took many many deer and some bear,I miss those days and yes it was a bitch to put up posted signs but a few people known to us who wanted to hunt the property were very happy to give their time posting our property !
