Re: Should stand your ground laws apply to cases like this.
Gun owners are taking it in the nuts once again over this case. Here are some recent headlines:
Florida's 'stand your ground' law incentivizes violence. Markeis McGlockton's death proves it.
A public argument over a parking spot ends in a father being shot to death, and yet no one is prosecuted. Is this what America has become?
Florida man could avoid charges in fatal shooting because of 'stand your ground' law
Family of Florida man fatally shot contends gunman can't 'hide' behind Stand Your Ground law
And this one might just win the stir-the-racial-pot award (thought it's from a source I'm not familiar with):
White man who shot black father in front of his kids over parking spot won’t face charges
To be fair, there are some articles pointing out the violent criminal history of the man who was shot, but they are not on NBC, ABC, CNN and other top "news" sources.Last edited by farmplinker; July 25th, 2018 at 02:10 PM.

Why aren't they referring to his baby mama as his wife?? My money says that the answer is 'welfare' and how it would be reduced if they were married.

People have died from single punches. Whomever starts the physical altercation should expect death. This would hopefully reduce the things people fought about to things that are actually important.

Re: Should stand your ground laws apply to cases like this.
"Stand your ground" is irrelevant to a man lying on the ground with an attacker looming over him.
To "retreat" he'd have to get to his feet and outrun a man who appears to be in much better shape. Further, if he reasonably believed that the attacker had a gun, he'd have to be able to outrun a bullet.
Lesson here: Don't hit people just because you're a thug.
As for him being a "father", who cares? Becoming a father just requires that you do what birds and fish and alley cats have done for millions of years. I notice they don't call him a "husband" or "welder" or "accountant" or "Scoutmaster" or "veteran". So his dick works; that's great. So what? I'm sure the shooter is a son and maybe a brother and maybe he has a job. The "father" appears to be a bully and a thug; call him "the attacker", which is accurate but won't stir up the usual mobs of people who have free time because they don't have jobs.Attorney Phil Kline, AKA gunlawyer001@gmail.com

I wonder if that guy has been out there patrolling that parking lot and worrying about handicapped spaces recently?
