Default Gun hoarder in more trouble as shotguns and rifles found in storage facility

Would any of this be illegal if he lived in Pa?

I don’t think unprecedented means what he thinks it means.

A man who had 70 firearms and a staggering 50,000 bullets in his Bayside, Queens, home is in more trouble now that eight more rifles and shotguns have been found in a Long Island storage unit linked to him, the Daily News has learned.

Additional charges are expected to be handed down against Ronald Drabman, 60, in the coming weeks following the raid at a facility in New Hyde Park, police said.

Drabman is already facing more than 100 counts of illegal weapons possession and selling illegal weapons after police found an arsenal of handguns and rifles inside his Bayside home on 208th St. near 58th Ave. and in a nearby truck on April 15.

Following up on a tip that began in Bedford-Stuyvesant, cops found the weapons cache in Drabman's basement, authorities said. The stash included 23 handguns, 45 rifles, shotguns and assault rifles, a zip gun and two .177-caliber pellet guns.

"This is one person that possessed all of these weapons...an unprecedented amount of ammunition," NYPD Chief of Intelligence Thomas Galati said at the time of the seizure. "If you look at some of these weapons, there are high-power assault rifles, large magazines for them, plus a lot of handguns as well."

The weapons included an AK-47, two Colt AR-15 rifles, five Bushmaster XM-15 rifles and an Uzi, according to a criminal complaint. Drabman claimed he wasn’t planning any mass shootings, but was an avid collector who was both buying and selling the weapons and ammo.

The NYPD believes Drabman was a collector, but cops are investigating whether he planned an attack with the weapons. Authorities do not think he was part of a criminal ring.

A further investigation led them to a storage unit on Jericho Turnpike in New Hyde Park, where six rifles, six shotguns, a Bushmaster AR-15 assault rifle, and a loaded Colt .45-caliber pistol was recovered.

A receiver for an Uzi submachine gun, a handful of high-capacity magazines and a large amount of ammunition was also found, police said.

Drabman, who lived with his 94-year-old mother, remains in jail after being ordered held without bail. If convicted, he could face 26 years behind bars.

He once tried, unsuccessfully, to get a gun permit from the NYPD and was caught with a loaded revolver in Queens last September, sources said. He was involved in a car crash in Queens on Sept. 27 and tried to persuade a responding EMT to hold his gun so the police wouldn't find it, the sources said.

"I can't have this on me," he told the EMT, according to the criminal complaint, as he pulled the gun from his pants pocket and tried to hand it to the medic.

He also has a past arrest for petty larceny, sources said.

Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said Drabman had an "obsession with weapons."

"The defendant is accused of using his home as a warehouse for illegal firearms — along with tens of thousands of rounds of live ammunition," Brown said. "This stockpile of weapons poses a great risk to the residents of Queens. It is extremely disturbing to find such an arsenal of firearms in a residential community."

It's bizarre that the above list would be considered tame for many PA residents, but it's a massive crime a few miles over the border. His mother probably depends on him.

Based on what very few actual facts I have...

On one hand, it's easy to say that it is his fault for breaking the law and making the risky decisions he made. However, his possession of those firearms and ammo should be protected under the 2A. The bad laws are more wrong than him for breaking them.

This is the sort of fuzzy snowflake thinking that leads to them protesting against a new gun shop "that CHILDREN will walk past on their way to SCHOOL!!"

When pressed for details as to why this poses an unacceptable threat, they lock up like a laptop being multi-tasked too far, then spit out "if I have to explain it to you then you just don't get it". And then they'll call you a "racist" just to be safe.

I am thinking this is not a crime at all in about 45 other states.
LOL at the fearsome arsenal with NYPD tools posing in the background like they just took out Osama Bin Laden.
And is there actually a law in NY that literally says that using your home as a warehouse for illegal items is also illegal? Possession of the mags and "assault" rifles is already against NY law but storing them in your home is an added charge tacked on? I am thinking this is just bad reporting/writing.
I don't think even NY has a limit on the number of bullets you can own but maybe they do.

Their politics/politicians are quite disturbing. Should we destroy them?

Well, let's do some math. IF he could shoot 70 guns at one time, and IF he could shoot 700 rounds through each gun, and IF he had 3000 magazines, and IF he could carry 70 guns and 3000 loaded magazines on his person, then the number of guns and ammo might be a concern.

Why aren't these people contesting these unjust violations of the US Constitution using the Equal Protection clause of the 14th amendment. They completely forget all about Equal Protection. Where's that socialist so we can use him for a punching bag some more?
