This doesn't necessarily apply to what happened here, but lots of people don't seem to know that public storage facilities are often swept with drug/bomb/gun sniffing dogs.

His real problem seems to be a prior conviction, lack of NYS/NYC endorsed Pistol License (handguns) and the non-registered "SAFE ACT" firearms. Possible NFA violation on the UZI receiver also.

This is NYC. No amount of registering or permits would have saved him. Conviction or no. Pretty much every single one of those guns are straight-up illegal on account of being black.

I've no love for NYC in general, but NYS has enough problems without people making stuff up.
