I carry a 1911 in condition 1 (cocked and locked) all day every day. I also compete with my carry gear. I just shot a big match this weekend, and I realize as I'm sitting here that I cannot explicitly remember sweeping off the safety in any of the stages - it's just a trained part of my draw stroke.

Find a gun you can shoot and physically carry, then train with it.

    Bersa Thunder 380.

Mine is a great shooter, my most accurate shot actually. I can pocket carry in jeans with larger pockets or a jacket pocket. I've never tried it but it would likely hide well in a belly band too.

Metal frame and barely any recoil, unlike a snappy "mouse gun".

Shootability and recoil is night and day between my Bersa and my LCP.

The only DA/SA deep conceal I can think of other than those above is the old Beretta Tomcat in .32 acp; the caveat is to only get the INOX version if you're going to get one. The regular ones have weak frames that tend to crack. Anybody want a regular Tomcat parts pistol?

There are a lot of mouse gun options today, mostly striker fired but not all.

I have and use Beretta 3032 Tomcat in .32. I like the tip up barrel and I found a grip laser (both used). I have a pocket holster that looks like a wallet to hide the gun outline. Very deep conceal or backup.

I am now looking at Taurus Spectrum .380.

There are also small .380 and 9mm semis by Ruger, S&W, Kimber, and Sig Sauer. There is literally a plethora of choices today.

I had picked up a Thunder 380 several years ago, wanting a PPK but leery of the S and W versions. They had good reviews had a good trigger, and were cheap, so I picked one up.
It shot well, very accurate and easy to shoot.
Then within a few hundred rounds, the trigger bar broke. Sent it back to Gander as asked by Bersa, and got it back working. Then it started having failures to feed. Figuring I had two mags with bad feed lips, I picked up another. Same thing. Sent back to Gander, again by request of Bersa. Got a new recoil spring, but still the same issue. Sent back again, told there's nothing wrong with it. Bersa wants me to ship it somewhere in the midwest if I recall. It now sits buried in the back of the safe. Even if it did work, I'd never trust it again. And anyway, it's the same size as my Glock 27, and carries 8 rounds of 380 rather than 11 of 40. (Don't worry, 40 isn't my choice).

As far as a real recommendation, what you want doesn't exist. The closest thing is the Springfield XDE, but it's far from a micro gun. When I need something tiny, I have my S and W Bodyguard 380. Yes, the trigger pull is painfully long, but I think that's kinda the point. With practice, I could reliably make hits out to 25 yards with it.

My current "wedding and funeral" piece is the S&W bodyguard 380.
One of my daughters bought one as a "summer gun" and it fit the bill.
    Small, light and concealable.
Liked it so much, I got one for my self
We both carry with 2 extra magazines.

My favorite "wedding & funeral" gun, or as how I call them; my "I'm not carrying a gun" gun, is my Glock 42 or S&W Model 38 Airweight - the original bodyguard.
I like how the 42 shoots, but I have a fondness for snubbies; having owned many different ones over the years. My on duty BUG was always a S&W snubby.
Tomorrow's battle is won during today's practice.

I know they aren't super small but you should be able to dress around a Sig P-225 or an H&K P2000sk with a good holster.
